NDIS Funding

Early Intervention Funding
For children under the age of 7, with developmental delay, may meet the requirements for early intervention funding under the NDIS, without a formal diagnosis.

The purpose of the funding is to allow for intervention for your child at the earliest possible time and reduce the impact that you child’s developmental delay has on their functional capacity. The goal of this is to reduce the future need for long-term supports.

At Finding Our Voice we have extensive knowledge of the application process, goal development and paperwork, which we can assist families with.

If your child is over the age of 7 with a diagnosis, they should already either have or be eligible for, NDIS funding.

Medicare Rebates

Children that are eligible, can request that their GP initiates an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Program Referral for Allied Health Services under Medicare. An EPC plan provides you with a partial rebate for 5 sessions per calendar year that may be claimed through Medicare.

To be eligible, your child must have a chronic (long-term) condition as determined by your GP. These 5 sessions can be used to access speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and / or audiology services. We have attached a link to the form.

Children with a suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may also be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate through the Helping Children With Autism scheme which can significantly assist with funding assessment and intervention before official diagnosis.

Private Health Insurance

Families with private health insurance may be eligible to claim a proportion of their fees through fund depending on their level of extras cover and if their policy covers Speech Pathology services. Please consult with your private health fund to find out more.
